The genizah forms a link between the synagogue and the Jewish cemetery – to this day, Torah scrolls and prayer books are still sometimes buried in cemeteries. Cemetery-related items discovered in synagogue attics include mainly book fragments, hand-written excerpts of cemetery prayers (Maane Lashon), and copies and templates of epitaphs for both ordinary people and prominent scholars like Shabbatai HaKohen of Holešov/Holleschau. Among the unique finds is a fragment of a knitted stocking that may have been part of the Jewish burial shroud tachrichim.
