Group of objects: Ritual objects

Objects associated with the performance of religious duties (mitzvot) include, for example, the shofar (ram’s horn), which is blown on the High Holidays, and willow branches, which are shaken on Sukkot. Other ritual objects include mezuzah cases and phylacteries (tefillin). Tefillin leather straps were sometimes used to bind bundles of worn-out books for storage in the genizah.
