Genizah finds include objects that were used in the synagogue for decades and hundreds of years. Among the finds are synagogue furnishings – unique large synagogue textiles, Torah ark curtains and valances that cover the holy ark (aron ha-kodesh) – in addition to scrolls, books and small textiles. Fragments of the ark and other interior features of the synagogue are also to be found in genizot, as well as plaques with blessings and prayers. Fragments of candlesticks are among the frequent finds. In addition, a large amount of synagogue-related archival materials have been placed in genizot.
